On Friday, April 20, the ZAH Library Committee presented a novel event to honor Shahnaz Sidhwa, a talented member of our community, and to raise funds for a worthwhile cause.  The children of our community performed a play that enacted the story of Shahnaz Sidhwa’s new beautifully illustrated bedtime story book: “Farmer Brent”.  Before the play, a short video compiled by Fiona Setna showed the children’s reactions after she had read the book to them in her class at the WoodCreek Elementary School.  Vehishta Kaikobad presented the reasons why this book has so much appeal to young children.  The enactment of the play by our children, which brought a smile on every face in the audience, was followed by a question and answer session with Shahnaz.

The book was on sale for $10.00 during the event.  Many people purchased extra copies of the book or gave donations to the cause of poor elderly Zarathushtis in India who cannot afford even one square meal a day due to their meager financial situation.  Due to the generous contributions by the attendees, $946 was collected and will be sent to an appropriate charity in India.
